This school year is coming to an end,
so it's a great time to reflect on how to make next year better.
I'm sure I could list 100 things to change,
but I decided to narrow it down to three.
This year I started with math rotations.
In the middle of the year, I tried a new format.
By the end of the year, I was back to whole class lessons.
My current plan is to do math rotations two days a week.
How do you teach math?
My materials and books have some basic organization.
I want to get everything is the same type of bins
and do some rearranging of the bins.
I took pictures so that I can try to brainstorm some ideas at home.
I have an iPad, an ELMO, and two computers in my room
Our school has two carts with laptops, a computer lab and three iPads.
I'd like to find some new and exciting ways to
incorporate technology into my lessons.
There are a bunch of "pins" on my boards with ideas.
I need to sit down this summer and look at the ideas.
What are your goals for next year?

ReplyDeleteYou have really great ideas! I am going to use your idea of taking pictures of my room, so that I can plan over the summer how to organize and arrange it! I also did math rotations for awhile in my room and want to do them again next year. I like your goal of math rotations for 2 days a week.

I am with you about technology. We HAVE the supplies - it's just a matter of getting comfortable with the programs and Apps myself so I can teach them and find meaningful ways to weave them into the curriculum.

These sound like great goals! I'm focusing a lot on math this summer as well -- I'm just not settled on my routines yet, and I want to get better organized. As far as the technology goes, my best advice would be to jump right in with it. I've found that even when I haven't had all the details figured out, at least a couple of my fourth graders would be tech-savvy enough to help the rest of us figure it out.
