Sports Themed Printables...and A Chance to Win Them!

I wanted to share my newest product.

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/SCORE-with-Math-and-ELA-Printables-Sports-Themed-Worksheets-995598

There are two main reasons why this was created.
#1 - Some of the boys in my class asked me if
they could have some football practice sheets.
I gave them this and they loved it.
You should have seen the smiles on their faces
and how excited they were to tell the other students
I created these just for them.

#2 - I am putting together my emergency substitute plans
and some of these activities will be added.
They can be used any time of the year.
I can just copy and have them ready to go.

Here are close up shots of a few pages.

Thankful Tuesday and Character Study Pack

This year is flying by
and now we are just two days from Thanksgiving.

Ever so often I need to step back
and remind myself how lucky I am in life.
Today, I'm linking up with Molly for
http://www.luckytobeinfirst.com/2013/11/the-thankful-thread_26.html
Here is a short list of the things I am most thankful for this year.

http://www.educents.com/featured-deals/1st-2nd-grade-year-round-bundle.html#next#thirdgradegalore
I've been starting to teach character traits this year,
but this pack takes it a bit further.

Faith has included a few lessons and poster for you to use.
There are recording sheets for the kids to use
on their own.  I plan to use them as a way to check up
my students during their read to self time.
Another great addition to the pack is four different lists
of books to use when teaching...
character vs. character
character vs. self
character vs. nature
character vs. society
http://www.educents.com/featured-deals/1st-2nd-grade-year-round-bundle.html#next#thirdgradegalore
I don't know about you, but I like to see examples first.
Then it helps me to find my own books to fit each category.

Faith's product is part of a bundle
that is 74% off at Educents.

SUPER Easy Partner Spelling Practice

Report cards are due Friday
and I need sub plans for tomorrow - sick kid!

I'll make this really fast!

I'm linking up with Holly for
http://fourthgradeflipper.blogspot.com/2013/11/tried-it-tuesday-remind-101.html
This was an easy way to practice spelling
and the kids loved it!

Everyone had a list of the spelling words
and a partner.
I had posted each spelling word on a card
around the room.
First, the partners switched lists.
They were the exact same list,
except it had someone else's name on it.
The partners went up to a word.
Partner A stood with their back to the word.
Partner B read the word to A.
Partner A had to spell the word.
It is was correct,
Partner B marked it off the list.
Then they switched.
If anyone spelled a word incorrectly,
they could not get it checked off and they
would go back to the word later.

Didn't I tell you this was easy?
What are some fun ways you get the
whole class to practice spelling?

Informational Text - Sequencing and Freebie

My class is working on sequencing
using informational text.
This week we are reading the book:
Two Bobbies.
http://www.twobobbies.com/
It's a heartwarming story about a cat and dog
that survived Hurricane Katrina.
I don't want to give too much away,
but their names are Bobbi and Bob Cat.
Bobbi has a chain around his neck.
Bob Cat is blind and follows Bobbi's chain.
If you love animals,
be ready to shed a tear while reading this story.

We will be using it for our review of sequencing.
I always think it is important to find books
that are interesting for the kids.
I know they will be hooked on this one.

We will also be using a sequencing foldable
that I created.

You can download this freebie along with
a reading passage by clicking HERE.

What are some informational texts you
use for teaching sequencing?

Word Work: Give Me a Word For...

I can not believe how busy this year has been.
Two kids, two dogs, making dinner, planning for the next day,
math common core, PLC's...
I have no time for this fun stuff!
I've been lucky to get in one post a week.
Does anyone else feel this way?

My post today is a new product a finally put together.
I call it...
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Word-Work-Give-Me-A-Word-For-977569

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Word-Work-Give-Me-A-Word-For-977569
Using the letters in the word and the categories,
your students need to come up with a word to match.
Some are harder than others,
but it is great for learning new vocab.

My students and I even looked up one of the
category/letters match-up online.
We all learned about udon noodles!

There are 10 different puzzles.
I use them for early finishers and word work.
They are also great to add to an emergency sub folder.

I've got this at 1/2 price for the next 24 hours.
TGIF!!

November Currently and Facebook Frenzy Reminder

November?
Time is just flying by!
I'm here to share my November Currently.
It's a fun linky brought to you by
Men in Black is on TV.
It's such a fun movie to watch.

I am sort of caught up on school work.
Ask me on Wednesday how it is going
and I'm sure I will be behind once again.

I read a FB post about some families
that are already putting up their holiday decorations.
They love this time of the year
and it goes by so fast.

I have a deal with another teacher at school.
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings,
she asks me if I ran the night before.
If I didn't, I only get one cup of coffee for the day.
If I did run, I can have two.
It's been enough motivation for me to get my butt on the treadmill.

I don't feel like I really need anything right now.
I could say the obvious answer - time,
but I'm getting past that now.
I'm happy with my life!

I haven't tried this recipe,
but it sounds delicious!

Too much candy? Keep it or donate?

Can you really have too much candy?
Yes - if mom is trying to cut out sugar from
her diet and from the rest of the family's food.

This is our collection for both kids - 4 years old and 1 1/2 year old.
photo.JPG
What can you do with all that candy?
Donate it!
Our school collects the candy and gives it
to a local charity.

We are really trying to encourage our 4 year old to help others.
I read on FB about a mother who started the "Switch Witch."
Her kids leave a bunch of their candy outside their bedroom.
During the night the "witch" takes the candy and leaves a gift.

I like that idea, but don't want to lie about the witch.
My husband and I decided we are going to tell our daughter
if she donates the candy, she will get to pick out a gift.
She can get a toy, book, movie, etc.

I know she should donate because it is
the nice thing to do,
but a 4 year old doesn't always get that concept.

What do your kids do with all their candy?
Feel free to admit that you just eat it all!
