Monthly Goals - Back to School Edition

I'm taking a break from cleaning out my files
to link-up with I{Heart}Recess for

Personal:
I'm running a half marathon towards the end of August.
I'd like to keep up with the running during the school year.
My ideal goal would be three days a week.
Feel free to ask me about it in October!

Organization:
I have a tendency to take my papers
on nightly car trips.
You know the trips where they come home with you
and then go right back to school the next day.
The problem is you did nothing with them in the evening.
I really need to keep up with the grading and paperwork this year.

Planning:
Before I had kids, I was always planned a week in advance.
Now that the kids are here, that never happens.
So this is the year for me to get back on track!

Professional:
This year is going to be busy.
Here are a few of the new things in our district:
- Common Core math
- PLC's (year #2)
- Leveled library in each classroom (Everyone levels their own books)
- Each student gets leveled for reading (One day sub to complete)
- Professional development on math
and the start of Common Core reading (for next year).
My goal is to keep an open mind,
remember it is to help the students
and just do the best I can do.

Students:
This year my whole morning will be ELA time.
I'm going to have a lot of great teaching
opportunities and I need to really plan out the time.

Motto:
Tomorrow is a new day!
We all have bad days
and the next day is a fresh start.

What are your goals for this year?

Next School Year I'm Definitely...

Today I am linking up with Kim over at Finding Joy in 6th Grade.
This school year is coming to an end,
so it's a great time to reflect on how to make next year better.

I'm sure I could list 100 things to change,
but I decided to narrow it down to three.

This year I started with math rotations.
In the middle of the year, I tried a new format.
By the end of the year, I was back to whole class lessons.
My current plan is to do math rotations two days a week.

How do you teach math?

My materials and books have some basic organization.
I want to get everything is the same type of bins
and do some rearranging of the bins.
I took pictures so that I can try to brainstorm some ideas at home.

I have an iPad, an ELMO, and two computers in my room
Our school has two carts with laptops, a computer lab and three iPads.
I'd like to find some new and exciting ways to
incorporate technology into my lessons.
There are a bunch of "pins" on my boards with ideas.
I need to sit down this summer and look at the ideas.

What are your goals for next year?

May Goals Already?

May?  Where did April go?
I guess that means it is time to set some new goals.
I'm linking up with Jess at I {heart} Recess.

Personal:  I have a 10 mile race on Memorial Day weekend.
I've been running about two days a week, but I need to step it up at the end here.

Health:  I need more sleep.
There is something in my head that says,
"Stay up and get stuff done.
 Don't worry about it.
Summer will be here soon.
Then you can sleep."

Blogging:  Between Google Friend Connect and Bloglovin, I've reached 100 followers.
I know so many people have big giveaways.
I'm not sure if I can get one organized or if I should do a different giveaway.
 Any thoughts?

School:  We just finished our elapsed time unit and half the class still doesn't understand.
A few teachers have shared some ideas with me, so I'm going to try them out.

Fun: I need a haircut, NOW!
I usually go a while, but it has been too long.
I'm afraid to tell you when I had my last haircut.
October

So those are my goals for May.
Do you have any goals this month?
